License, Referral & Service Disclosures

Burkhart Peterson, CPAs, PLLC is a CPA firm that provides certified public accounting services, including attestation and valuation services. Any work that this CPA firm provides to you will be specifically summarized in a separate Engagement Letter. If you do not have an Engagement Letter with this CPA firm then you have not hired it to perform services from you. We may have licensed Attorney(s) on staff; however, the practice of law is not provided through this firm. This CPA firm is under common ownership with multiple tax consulting firms that operate separately under the Burkhart Peterson brand. The Burkhart Peterson tax consulting firms issue their own engagement letters to their clients. Tax consulting and tax preparation work performed for you may be performed by those separate affiliated firms. Although many of our staff may have knowledge of and licenses needed to sell insurance, this firm does not provide insurance services. This firm is under common ownership with Burkhart Peterson Insurance Agency, LLC, which is a company that does offer insurance services. Our separate insurance company does not typically charge hourly fees, but earns commissions based on policies sold. If you ever choose to purchase insurance products from our insurance company, then company principles or other licensed insurance agents may earn insurance commissions ranging from 0% to 110% of the premium cost of said policies (this varies depending on the type of policies). Although many of our staff may have knowledge of and licenses needed to provide personal financial planning or investment advisory services, this firm does not provide personal financial planning services or investment advisory services. Applicable staff of this firm refer clients to investment advisory firms with whom our licensed professionals may be appointed. In those cases, any services to be rendered by an investment advisory firm should be summarized in a separate engagement letter from that separate company. If you choose to receive services from investment advisory firms to whom staff of this firm refers you, staff of this firm that are licensed investment advisors may benefit by up to 110% of the amounts you pay for those services.

Your fee payments are the only compensation that we expect to receive for the work performed for you except as outlined herein. We may refer you to some other professional for assistance with needed services that we can’t or don’t provide. We will consider the professional qualifications of another service provider before referring you to that person. It will always remain your option to decide whether to accept or reject any service provider that we may refer you to. We may receive payment of a commission or referral fee from any other third-party professional as a result of referring you to them. Our referral fee could be as much as 110% of what you pay to them. If we receive a referral fee, you may request to know the amount that we received. Although we’d be available to consult with you or that person on any recommendations or work product they provide, we will not evaluate or assume responsibility for the work performed by any separate service provider.
